Ar. K. Srivalli

Associate Professor

K. Srivalli is the Associate Professor at the Mysore School of Architecture, Mysuru. Before joining the faculty, she taught at the Vaishnavi School of Architecture and Planning – Vijayawada, REVA University – Bengaluru, University of Mysore – Mysore, and AcharyaNagarjuna University, Guntur. She has completed her B.Arch. from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNA & FAU), Hyderabad, and her M.Tech. in urban and regional planning from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Mysore, Mysuru. At present, she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning at School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), University of Mysore, Mysuru. She also served as a consultant architect and planner for quite a lot of departments Government of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) such as the Department of Town and Country Planning, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTCD), Irrigation and Command Area Development for several urban planning, tourism planning and urban design projects. She also worked as a trainee planner at the Chief Town Planner Office, Panaji – Goa, and as a trainee architect at BSB Associates, Mysuru.

Being an architect and urban planner, she has a strong interest and passion for ecological conservation and humanities and has chosen teaching as a tool to point toward it the social order. Her academic involvement was always been guided by professional knowledge and experiences as well. Her research focus is planning for people-friendly public spaces on the riverfronts. Her research approach is based on empirical study. She is using research tools and techniques such as Historical sketch mapping of Collective Memory, analysis of Spatial-temporal changes, Cross-Mapping matrix, Serial Vision, Observation Surveys, Public Perception Surveys, and Expert Interviews. She has both presented at several international conferences and published several papers in peer-reviewed journals on the relationship between urban history, waterbodies, and the physical environment. Perhaps she conducted many workshops at various schools on Climatology, Urban Design, and Art. She is been registered with the Council of Architecture, India, and is also an active member of professional bodies such as the Institute of Town Planners India (ITPI), the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), and a faculty member of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), Andhra Pradesh Student’s Chapter.

She has several awards for her achievements since her education days till today such as a Gold Medal from the University of Mysore for her excellence in studies in M.Tech., Prof. V. N. Prasad Best Thesis Award (First place in India), from ITPI, the Pidilite Award for Excellence for Design of Optimum Space Utilisation, Best Design in second place for Vijayawada city in the city-led design competition of People for streets challenge conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. Besides, for her active social responsibilities and contributions, she gets nominated for the Best Women Personality of India in the category of architecture for the year 2014 by the People Forum of India.
